As you may have seen from my previous post, my biggest resolution for this year is to become a healthier person. My way of doing that is to lose weight. At my current weight, I know that I am not healthy, by any stretch of the imagination. So, how do I plan to lose weight? The tool that I think will aid me the most in this journey is my Fitbit Surge. I have had my Surge for about a year now. I would wear it on and off, hit my step goal here and there, but never consistently tracked my food or activity.
First, each day my plan is to track all my food and water. I plan to measure everything that goes in my mouth so that I can properly track it. From there I am going to copy everything that I eat into my Erin Condren Wellness Journal. At the end of the night I have been transferring everything from wellness journal into the Fitbit app. I just recently made the switch to MyFitnessPal because their food database is bigger. If you want to add me on myfitnesspal click here. If you want to add me on Fitbit click here. Anyone who adds me or follows me I will approve and I will do my best to support anyone who supports me!
Along with tracking all my food and water, I am going to be making sure I do at least some sort of exercise every day. I’m starting off light, so I have been taking my dogs on two walks a day, each about a mile long. I have also been going to my apartment complex gym about every other day and just spent some time walking on the treadmill. I’ve been doing an interval workout of sorts, starting with a slow speed but high incline, then decreasing the incline while I increase my speed. Then once I get down to a zero incline I would work my way back up. It has been working well for me and I’ve really been enjoying it. There is something about going to the gym that is motivating and it really helps me to get in the mindset of working hard, not slacking like I sometimes do when I do home workouts.
The third way that I plan to meet my resolution is by having weekly rotating goals. I have these posted on my vision board. My four goals for this past week were listed on my previous post. If I do not meet these weekly goals at least six days out of seven, I will repeat them. So far I have kept true to my goals except for one day. So come Sunday night, I will make new goals. Each week I will be posting an update on how my goals are coming along and what my progress has been for that week.
That brings me to the final strategy of making sure I keep my resolution. Being accountable. I want to make sure that I am as transparent and authentic as I can possibly be during this journey. Let’s get this straight, losing weight is not easy. Hell, if it was, no one would be overweight, am I right? So I want to show you guys the ups and the downs, the struggles, the cheat days… Everything! That also includes the good times, the weeks that I will lose my goal of two pounds per week. I want to be relatable to you guys, not be someone who does things that seem unattainable. Because trust me, if I can do it… You can too!
